4. Physical damage: battery shell swelling, electrolyte leakage, or white crystals on terminals
5. Battery not fully charged for long periods or charger indicates abnormality
6. Rapid voltage drop under load

Design life: 3-5 years (floating charge) or 2-3 years (cycle use). Plan replacement when approaching lifespan even if temporarily functional.
